5 Tips to Help You Make the Most of Your PR Internship

I remember first driving up to the anthonyBarnum offices in early June, nervous, but excited to see all that the firm had in store for me. I had just graduated from Indiana University a few weeks prior, and starting this internship was my first step into the working world post college.

Being able to spend my summer interning has been an invaluable professional experience. I could apply knowledge I learned in the classroom to the assigned projects I worked on throughout the summer.

I was given the opportunity to work on social media calendars; learn the different styles in which blogs can be written; and perform a variety of research, including looking into publications, award opportunities and learning the different industries that clients specialize in.

For anyone about to start a PR internship or for future aB interns, I have included some tips to help get the most out of your time spent interning:

  1. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
  2. Make sure that you double check all your work before submitting it.
  3. Always stick to deadlines.
  4. Fully immerse yourself into the work you are given.
  5. Take initiative in asking for more work.

And, most importantly, always put your best foot forward. You never know where an internship may lead.
